Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to audition to be in choir?

The only ensembles that students must audition for is River Rhapsody and Women's Chorale. If you are not comfortable with auditioning we have a choir for you. All you need to do is make sure your place choir as one of you top choices on your registration sheet and Mr. Desmond will place you in the appropriate choir.

Will taking choir take up all of my time?

No. Here at Braden River we have students from all over the school including athletes, cheerleaders, drama students, band, and orchestra, just to name a few! Students will also are highly involved in after school clubs and activities.

Do I have to come to all after school rehearsals and performances.

Yes, this is a requirement and participation in concerts makes up a large portion of your grade. If you absolutely cannot attend, you must personally discuss and submit your situation in writing with Mr. Desmond per the syllabus/handbook and an alternative assignment will be given pending the situation.

What if I can't make room in my schedule?

You can! Your guidance counselor might suggest that you not take chorus in order to take other classes that are required to graduate (such as American Government), but there is always a way, and you will absolutely find that taking Chorus is worth it. F.L.V.S is a great way to take a course online a free up room for chorus. Talk with Mr. Desmond if you have any concerns.
