Please click on the links below to access practice exercises to help you prepare for these auditions. In addition to sight-reading, they must prepare either "My Country Tis of Thee" or "Happy Birthday". Please be aware the scores will not be released. Students who wish to know how they can improve are more than able to and are encouraged to speak to Mr. Desmond!

Chorus Department Performance Attendance Policy

Attendance at dress rehearsals and performances is required.  Such events combined make up 40% of the student’s quarter grade.  In the event that an excused absence is necessary, the student will have an alternative assignment of privately recording his/her vocal part on video for the teacher to review, OR a written report.  Video equipment will be provided and recording will take place in a private rehearsal room off of the main Chorus classroom.  Students must make an appointment to make up the performance before or after the school day.

Excused Absence Requests must be submitted no less than 30 days prior to a scheduled event.  Requests must be made using the form at the back of the handbook or on the website in Forms Link and signed by a parent.  The only absences that will be considered excused with last minute notice are:

• Extreme illness – this requires a Doctor’s note upon return to school

• Family Emergency, such as a death in the family

In such an event as described above, you are asked to notify the director prior to the event if at all possible, even if this requires leaving a detailed phone message.  You must submit the form and/or a Doctor’s note upon your return.  If proper documentation is not submitted upon the student’s return to school, then the student will receive an Unexcused Absence.  Students receiving an unexcused absence will be offered an alternative assignment worth 50% of that performance grade.  If the student chooses not to complete the alternative assignment, a grade of zero will be given for that performance.

Please understand that you will not be excused for work or other extracurricular activities.  It is your responsibility to clear all performance and rehearsal dates on your social, personal, family, work and athletic calendars.
